Unique vintage 40's Knit skirt suit WHITE needs TLC/Seamstress work sz S/M CUTE!

Unbranded 40s vintage knit skirt/top 'suit' made in the USA
Item Description:
This unique, one-of-a-kind older suit needs some easy TLC to become an original and darling wedding ensemble.
The top needs no work and has cute embroidered soft buttons with snaps hidden to ensure it stays closed (as shown in photos). Collar is knit and 'ruffled' to add some detail to the plain short sleeves and short bodice of this top.
The skirt needs work: the stitching is coming off of the rolled elastic portion and can easily be hand stitched or you can use a machine. Also the elastic is shot and some new elastic can be slid inside (or the old removed if you wish the extra work)....to cinch in the waist.
The skirt is very simple A-line with pleats that could be steamed to a better shape.
The knit is 'loose' meaning; so you will be able to see bra/panty lines: so beware.
I'd suggest NUDE/beige undergarments or both a slip/camisole
to be on the safe side . This outfit would look DARLING with a 40s hat and chunky mary jane shoes with seamed stockings.
Item Condition:
Handwashed months ago to remove stains and added bleach to the water...as this was an off-white. Now its PURE WHITE with no 'damage'. No holes/rot. Does have dust from hanging on my door for months. Needs elastic and mending around the waist line.
