    Topshur (mong. topshuur) is a plucked musical instrument with 2 hair strings (tuned in a quart). The length is about 800 mm. The method of the game is rattling. It is distributed in North-Western Mongolia and Altai
    The name of the instrument comes, apparently, from " top "- blow, rattle and " hur " - the generalized name of musical instruments in the Turkic languages of the Shor group.
    In fact, the strings are tuned slightly wider than a quart (that is, not diatonically). And it is difficult to call the way of playing it otherwise than by clanking… Because the traditional topshur accompaniment does not allow syncopation and busting — only the rattling of the brush up and down in an even rhythm of 4/4. It is this structure and this type of game that gives the characteristic Altai flavor to topshur music
