Decig pondar (pondur) is an ancient national instrument of the Vainakhs - Chechens and Ingush. A three-choir plucked musical instrument, widespread among the peoples of the Caucasus. With the advent of the accordion ("Kehat-pondar"), the people also give the pondar the name "dechig-pondar". The instrument has a wooden body, hollowed out of one piece of wood, an elongated shape with a flat top and curved bottom, and is traditionally made of walnut. The sounds on the pondar are extracted with the fingers of the right hand, striking the strings from top to bottom or from bottom to top, tremolo, rattling and plucking ... Its sound has a soft, rustling timbre. The melodies are complex, rhythmically peculiar, and instead of the generally accepted major or minor, it is characterized by Dorian and Phrygian modes.
